Click yourself onto the Google homepage today and you'll find the search engine's logo has been replaced with a game called Doodle Champion Island.

You might recognise this game from a few weeks back when it stood proudly on the homepage throughout the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

In celebration of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, which kicks off today, Google has reintroduced their biggest-ever game.

Over the coming weeks you'll be able to play the game, which includes seven mini games created by Japanese animation company Studio 4°C, for free.

This time round there are new bonus levels and side quests, so it's fun for everyone.

You can play the Google Doodle game for free

CEO Sundar Pichai has said the game features about four hours of content, so you won't want to miss this.

How to play Doodle Champion Island

Playing the game couldn't be easier. Simply click on the Google Doodle featured on the Google search page to launch the game.

Get started by joining a team, Red, Blue, Yellow or Green (the four colours of the Google logo) and then venture to one of the seven competition areas.

Each competition has its own mini-game where you will face each sport's champions.

The champions are inspired by characters or creates from Japanese history and folklore.

You'll find seven mini games

Google explains that users can re-join Calico (c)athlete Lucky as she explores the Doodle Champion Island further.

It continues: "A world filled with seven sport mini-games, legendary opponents, dozens of daring side quests, and a few new (and old ;)) friends.

"Her ultimate goal? Defeat each sport Champion to collect all seven sacred scrolls—and complete extra hidden challenges across Champion Island in the purrr-ocess."

So what is different this time round? Users will find bonus levels and brand new side quests.

Google added: "If you’re one of the chosen few who collects every scroll, you can even see what’s next for our favourite feline.

"So are you still feline Lucky? Click on today’s Doodle, join one of the four colour teams to contribute to the real-time global leaderboard, and let the games continue!"

Refresh the Google page each day to keep playing.
